《盲人摸象》

Today, I want to tell you a story.

It’s a famous story from China. It’s called “Blind Men Touch an Elephant”.

这是一个中国的著名故事，它叫做《盲人摸象》。

Long long ago, there were six blind men.

很久很久以前，有六个盲人。

They never saw an elephant before.

他们从来没有见过大象。

One day, an elephant came to their village.

有一天，一头大象来到了他们的村子里。

The blind men were very happy. They wanted to touch the elephant.

盲人们非常开心，他们想摸一摸这头大象。

The first man touched the elephant’s leg.

第一个盲人摸到了大象的腿。

He said, “The elephant is like a big pillar.”

他说：“大象就像一根大柱子。”

The second man touched the elephant’s ear.

第二个盲人摸到了大象的耳朵。

He said, “No! The elephant is like a big fan.”

他说：“不对！大象就像一把大扇子。”

The third man touched the elephant’s trunk.

第三个盲人摸到了大象的鼻子。

He said, “You are wrong. The elephant is like a long rope.”

他说：“你们都错了，大象就像一根长绳子。”

The fourth man touched the elephant’s body.

第四个盲人摸到了大象的身体。

He said, “No! The elephant is like a big wall.”

他说：“不对！大象就像一堵大墙。”

The fifth man touched the elephant’s tusk.

第五个盲人摸到了大象的象牙。

He said, “You are all wrong. The elephant is like a sharp spear.”

他说：“你们全错了，大象就像一根锋利的矛。”

The sixth man touched the elephant’s tail.

第六个盲人摸到了大象的尾巴。

He said, “No! The elephant is like a thin rope.”

他说：“不对！大象就像一根细绳子。”

They argued and argued. No one agreed with each other.

他们吵啊吵，谁也不同意谁的说法。

Why? Because each of them only touched one part of the elephant.

为什么呢？因为他们每个人都只摸到了大象的一部分。

This story tells us a lesson.

这个故事告诉我们一个道理。

When we look at things, we can’t see only one part.

当我们看事情的时候，不能只看它的一部分。

We should look at the whole thing.

我们应该看事情的全部。

Only in this way, we can know the truth.

只有这样，我们才能知道事情的真相。
